If you want to feel special on your birthday, go to Eddie V’s. The staff will make you feel like royalty.
I spent days trying to decide on a restaurant for my birthday, which is September 28, 2020. I finally decided to go to Eddie V’s Prime Seafood. I made an excellent choice. It feels good to be catered to and appreciated.
First, I chose outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is nice. Picture this, on my birthday, I am seated on an open air balcony, overlooking the city and surrounded by stars and the beauty of the night sky. What’s better than that?!
Dinner began with a complimentary champagne toast. YES!! So far, so good. Now to dinner. Since it was my birthday, I put as much butter as I wanted to put on my bread. For my cocktail, I had the 24 Karat (check out that name). The 24 Karat is Belvedere Vodka, Grand Marnier, Peach Liqueur, Raspberries, and Roederer Rose, with a Gold Sugar Rim. It was delightful and refreshing. If you are a fan of Bourbon, get the Smoked Old Fashioned. It’s made with Basil Hayden Bourbon, A dash of Chocolate bitters, and served on a smoked plank tableside. Yes, the glass is placed upside down over the smoke to absorb it all. It smells amazing and is a good conversation starter.
Dinner included Georges Bank Scallops, sauteed with citrus fruit (orange and grapefruit), Roasted Almonds, and Brown Butter, and a 12 oz Center Cut FIlet Mignon. Side included Butter Poached Lobster Mashed Potatoes and Crab Fried Rice with Mushrooms and Scallions.
The Scallops were seasoned well. I like seared scallops, so next time, I will ask the chef to sear my scallops a little longer. But the dish was good. I really like the almonds, they added a needed crunch to the dish. The filet is so tender, you can cut it with a butter knife.
The Lobster Mashed Potatoes were made with whole Lobster claw meat. Potatoes were buttery and thick. Scallions accented the dish. It was really filling. It is definitely a side dish that 2 people can share. The Crab Fried Rice is the best of the side dishes. It is well seasoned with a rich and smoky flavor that was topped off loaded with lump crab meat.
Dessert was my favorite part of the meal. My birthday dessert was a combination of 2 of the dessert offerings including Hot Chocolate Godiva Cake, Bananas Foster Butter Cake Flambeed tableside and served with Butter Pecan Ice Cream, and highlighted with a single birthday candle and “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate script on the plate. The presentation was top notch. Oh, to see and smell the flame and sugar. Ah, this was such a fun dessert. Plus, my friend also got a complimentary dessert. The explanation given was the additional guest also gets a complimentary dessert so the birthday person doesn’t have to share. Now. that. is. awesome! All restaurants should do that! Also, I got a hand written birthday card from Eddie V’s!
Overall, I had a really nice time. My face says it all. I loved my birthday dinner at Eddie V’s. I look forward to going back to taste more of the delicious food. Happy Birthday to me!
